Pentair Sta-Rite J JM JBM Centrifugal Pump volute c101-122e c1-122e 1/3 1/2 3/4

  
This is a pump volute casting stamped C1-122 E which I believe was for the Sta-Rite J series medium head 3/4 hp. Doing some research, it appears that the casting is listed as C101-122E -- but before ordering look at your pump to see what number is stamped on the casting on front in case they switched castings. Also, it appears the 1/3, 1/2, and 3/4 hp models all use the C101-122E volute, but the 1hp uses the C101-122 volute. Therefore, I would say this will work for a 1/3, 1/2, or 3/4 hp pump, but NOT the 1 hp. I believe the models that use this volute include the following Sta-Rite centrifugal pumps. JMB, JMC, JMC3, JMD, JMD3. JBMB, JBMC, JBMC3, JBMD, JBMD3. These are the 1/3, 1/2, and 3/4 hp of the J series Medium head and the JB series Medium head. The high head (JH or JBH) series use a different volute and different impeller. This would NOT work for the high head units.

Again, the best way to be certain is to look at the front of the pump. As you can see from the pictures of this one, at the front on top this pump has C1-122 printed on it and less visible is the square box after this that has an E stamped on it. Also, like I said, I believe I got this as a spare a few years ago for a JMD 3/4 hp pump and checking now it appears to be the same casting for the 1/3, 1/2, and 3/4 hp pump. I also noticed the 1/3 and 1/2 used the same impeller (J105-42PHA) and the 3/4 uses J105-42PJA, and the 1hp uses a J105-42P so... While the same casting might work with the impellers for the 1/3,1/2, and 3/4 hp models, it is not likely that the volute would work with the impeller in the 1 hp model.

Both the 1/3 and 1/2 seem to use the same motor so.... Using it as a 1/3 hp motor probably gives it a higher duty cycle. Or said another way, same product, two prices - just marketing.

Also, I noticed all use the same wear ring size (N23-7) so motor shaft size must be identical so it makes sense -- the same casting can be used on different pumps. Just check the part number. Same part for different models and even different manufacturers Sta-Rite, Pentair, Simer, Flotec....

Just priced differently (like Volkswagon and Audi - same VW engine but different part numbers and prices). Final note: measuring from approx. Center to center of bolt holes gives about a 5 inch center to center square mounting pattern. Ask if you have questions.
